BKc Sf x Cirque du Soleil

BayArea Gabe here//
Cirque du Soleil's Kooza show hit San Francisco a couple months back, but I finally got the chance to go check it out last night. After the stupidly priced parking, wickedly priced popcorn & coke, The Show began. They wouldn't allow pictures taken once inside the tent, but you know me, had to sneak a few ;) However, pictures can not get close to capturing the Amazing performances! TRUST! No clowning around here my friends, these performers are No Joke! The Talent, The Strength, The Charisma is absolutely Astounding. They do such a great job of giving you an experience you wont forget, and as you know we here at the Brooklyn Circus believe in this, Experience is Everything! I've personally seen 3 Cirque du Soleil Shows now, and I am making it my goal to see as many as I can, you should too!

Faces of The Brooklyn Circus Sf

BayArea Gabe here//
The Brooklyn Circus team comes up with ideas all day everyday, some stick and get brought to life, some stay "on ice," and some fall by the wayside... It's all part of the process of growth...
This Idea of the "1000 Bag & 100 Faces Campaign" was one of my personal favorites; We get to capture the variety of customers that come through The Brooklyn Circus everyday and you-the reader, get a sneak peak.
so here we go>> Faces of The Brooklyn Circus Sf...

Pardon the interruption...

And we're back! We did not neglect you all, the man and I just took a lil vaca and tended to some family matters. We had a full week- traveling to Ohare airport {joke} , St. Croix, St. Thomas, and Clinton, NC- not to mention the layovers...but it was all sooo worth it! I mistakenly left my blackberry in Chicago, so I was truly on vacation- aside from trying to use Brian's phone every 7 minutes! Miss Ashley, Darius and Jarrett held it down while we were away, now we're back to our regularly scheduled program! The picture recap is coming soon...love it!

Living in The Big Apple . . .

The Mac Book Air:

We at The Brooklyn Circus and The Bkc spend 98% of our desktop dollars on Apple product and today I really understand why. The story from underdog, their simplicity and innovation cannot be matched. Apple has been and we hope will continue to be one of our favorite Brands, period. No questions, case closed. Is this an ad? Hey Steve Jobs, cut the check. Please enjoy the beautiful footage.

Yep! The Brooklyn Circus,East Coast,West coast and Worldwide. . .

Just can't get enough . . .

Just can't get enough of these postings about how we want to look when we get older. It's quite a ways away, but the thought of it brings a warm feeling to the heart. What will The BKc older man look like? He won't be the dude that WAS (past tense) fly or "Ah man I remember when this guy was stylish", No sir! He will continue his journey of Freshness till the day he is laid to rest. As for the Bearded man,I tell you one thing, I will not be wearing a suit everyday. Love the suited older man,but the casual, stylish older man is under represented. A mix of both casual and suited I think will be on the menu from 55 to 100 yrs old. Enjoy the looks below, they are a look into our future.

casual look:
1.casual tee and washed denim (Terry Richardson),cool eye wear and a young model type to complete the look.

2.older traveled, layered artist look. All of these looks work,of course MINUS THE CIGARETTE.

The suited men need no explanation, Yep! The Brooklyn Circus,East coast,West coast and Worldwide . . .

The SF Fog Blog

BayArea Gabe here//
I've been a few places on this planet in my time, but I must say the Bay Area has got to get the thickest fog I've ever seen. For example this morning on my way into the city, the fog was so thick you couldn't even see the city scape, the fog practically blankets the whole city. I forgot how crazy it is to drive in this mess, I probably shouldnt have been shooting pics while driving, but I had to share;)

JapanTown SF haps

BayArea Gabe here//
There were a few things going on this weekend in our Fillmore hood and the weather was great, so I decided to pound the pavement a bit. I went to get a nice quick power meal at one of BKc favorite sushi bar "Isobune" in Japantown. This little spot really reminds me of the sushi bar we fell in love with in Tokyo, its got the lil boats that float around the bar and you just grab what catches your eye or appetite... but be careful because unlike the one in Tokyo where each and any plate is just $1, this Japantown sushi joint, prices will vary my friend. After the tasty treats I went to go check the fellas over at Fatlace, copped a cool Staple tee then Ron informed me of why all the import cars cruisin' and revvin' around Japantown. Geoff from Fatlace was hosting his JDM Theory Annual Car show that was goin down in the Japantown parking lot... For those that dont know... the car culture in California is crazy... and imports definitely hold a big chunk of that audience. I couldnt stay very long but I was able to see the successful turnout.

Thanks Sf . . .

Gabe and the gang at The Brooklyn Circus sf sent us a design gift today, the best selling "The Elephant". The nice Brooklyn folks that we are,we decided to look high and low to find them a gift in return, we did.
While browsing some of our favorite blogs we ran across this posting on www.designspongeonline.com

Some of the best ideas are the simplest ideas and these posters sure prove that. Stay tuned for "The Elephant" at The Brooklyn Circus Ny. Yep! The Brooklyn Circus,East coast,West coast and Worldwide . . .

Speaking of soldiers . . .

Happy belated birthday to Susan in Chicago from Fashionation.Susan has been a believer in The Bkc drive since day one and has shown that in her efforts to help us grow. Special thanks for keeping The BKc in the mouths of decision makers worldwide and keeping us in the Matrix ;) wink ! Wish you the best as you get younger, yet gain more wisdom. Tell your Mom we are waiting for her NY visit, remind her of her conversation with The Bearded Man at the Solemates Got cobbs event. Yep! The Brooklyn circus, east coast, west coast and worldwide . . .

The Bkc Soldiers on the battle field . . .

Good morning to all our loyal readers all over the world. This past month leading into 2008 has been an intense one, I get stress pains behind my neck from having so much work to do. Balancing contracts from upcoming projects (we have quite a few, stay tuned the ink has to dry), checking the status of distribution, production, reading all the necessary material to stay abreast, reading for personal growth, more family events, staff management, designing, deadlines, need I say more?

If anyone who reads our blog owns a Spa, please feel free to donate a FREE visit to your Spa. If the service is good, we'll become regulars, we all need it at The Brooklyn Circus. The Bearded Man will gladly promote the visit (s), blog it, and be so refreshed to take on 2008. I feel pumped, honored and excited about 2008, but a good day at the spa would make things a little sweeter. At any rate just felt I should let you know how I feel, I am certain the team is feeling the same way because we've had countless design, distribution, marketing and finance meetings in the past month.

Oh, can't forget all the interviews, we've interviewed quite a few people for our Sales opening. People!!! work on your resume and interview skills. For those that did well, we will be contacting them shortly for a follow up interview. Looks will not land you a job or a career, If it does, it will not last long. So my advice to anyone out there reading this, check your resume and interview skills, read allot more and research, research, research. Work has to be done, so I won't drown you with words, on to more visuals of what we've been up to the last few weeks.

Quick Summary 3 (Garment Lining Design)

We worked on linings for some of our fun, pop garments (ie jackets, cardigans) for our spring offering. Some of the colors were changed,we are open for color suggestions for the future. Please keep in mind that these designs may pop up on t-shirts, but are for some of our spring jacket linings. I told you we are working for ya! Give us your feedback on them. Yep! The Brooklyn Circus experience is working . . .

Quick Summary 2 (Showroom re-design)

More of what we've been doing the last few days when we were off line not blogging as much as we need to.

I still!!!! feel bad. Countless conference calls, emails and visits from Lauren our interior designer about the showroom project and upcoming store design.

Tuesday, January 08, 2008

Quick Summary:

So I felt bad about not blogging, the last few days. So we came up with a visual summary of what we've been up to. Ohh we are always shooting, so the pics are there. It's just editing and posting that can be time consuming. Here goes our attempt.

Product shots for www.thebkcircus.com more to come.

Still Awarding . . .

The BKc 180 Award, awarded to Dante. Either for the amount of days he stopped by (always out shopping and refining his style) or for the fact that his style has taken a 180 turn. He came in with a love for certain brands, adopted new ones and refined his sense of style, since we met him a year ago. We could not continue awarding without acknowledging Dante. Congrats D, good job. Look forward to seeing the transformation for 2008. Yep! The Brooklyn Circus experience is everything . . .

What A Start !!!!

I have to start by apologizing for not posting the last few days. But it has been so crazy around the store, the warehouse and the showroom, that it's almost impossible to find time to sit down and blog. The people answer: Make time!!!

I agree because our job is to manage our work and keep you posted on what we are doing, I think that's fair, not easy, but fair. That's why folks read blogs, to see what you are up to, so we'll always have allot to do and I MUST report it.

With that being said we would like to again open up the floor and invite any of our qualified readers to become a part of our record keeping team and help us record/report the haps. We have cameras, we have computers, do you have the time and the skills. Sure many of you are rushing to the phone to contact us, HOLD UP! We will post an official call for help in a few days and look forward to reading the replies.
Yep! The Brooklyn Circus, experience is everything . . .

Flashback Favorites . . .

As we prepare to produce our new series of classic logo shirts, had to dig deep and find some of our best selling classics.
The Brooklyn Circus Basics, 5 Best selling Flavors, if you can find them, Collect them!

2007 Bkc Year in Review Awards . . .

Bkc Consistency award:
Dj Kohey wins it. Kohey has been with The Brooklyn Circus since 2006 when we opened and has never missed a day,a beat or a meeting. So why not a perfect attendance award? Because it's more that just attendance,Kohey is consistent in everything he touches at The Brooklyn Circus and The Bkc. The only guy that runs to work even when he's early. One of the few guys that comes to a meeting with his own notes and agenda, oddly sometimes his notes are exactly what we had planned, weird I say. Kohey thanks for all the cultural lessons in respect and shame. Yep!

Happy New Year...

The solemates fam thanks you for all of your support in our first {half} year. It's been a blessing to be able to interact with all of you, whether in the store, on the phone or via the blog...love it! This year please expect nothing short of spectacular from your solemates...x BKc fam. We wish you a great 2008!

2007 Bkc Year in Review Awards . . .

2007 Bkc Year in Review Awards . . .

Most active Blog reader:
(S.I.N.)
With over 30 comments on the blog, some coming minutes after the post,(S.I.N.) wins it hands down. We have no picture, but he knows who he/she is. Send us a pic (S.I.N.).

2007 Bkc Year in Review Awards . . .

Bkc swagger award:
Marlon King wins it. You took some of the craziest BKc and other brand items we sold and made them look better Marlon. You have a great eye for casual fashion, always keeping your lines clean and your Bkc look in check. I've never seen Marlon on a day off,his casual cool is unbeatable. Not many can accomplish this, hats off to you bro, can't wait to see what you come up with in 08. Do I hear C-H-A-L-L-E-N-G-E?

2007 Bkc Year in Review Awards . . .

Bkc Rookie of The Year:
Young Shay, hands down. With hopes and aspiration of being a team member Young Shay came on as an intern. He surely became a pleasant face on The Brooklyn Circus blog. From picture to picture he got better and better. Not a bad dresser either, loll. The kid is fresher than a basket of oranges at a Tropicana juice plant.

2007 Bkc Year in Review Awards . . .

The Bkc Purple Heart Award:
Bay area Gabe for making the jump from his 9-5 to The Brooklyn Circus SF. Despite all the upstream swimming he stuck it through and brought his dream to life. Gabe words cannot explain how proud we are of you.

2007 Bkc Year in Review Awards . . .

Most Improved Bkc Team Player:
Ness you got that one. Came in a girl and became a woman, all in a matter of 12 months, the longest position she ever held. She is working on being the stylist she wants to be,took her first transcontinental flight (Vegas for Magic) courtesy of the Brooklyn Circus and pulled off some long hours . All for the process of finding what she wants to do. We learned allot about Ness while she adopted a family,The Bkc.

2007 Bkc Year in Review Awards . . .

Hey as the year comes to a close and 2007 becomes a thing of the past, we decided that it was only right that we develop a post that praised the people, places and things that made this year complete. Without them the year would have been a bore.

So, we developed "The Bkc Year in Review Awards" to pat each other on the back, because we deserve it. From The team at The Brooklyn Circus in NY, San Francisco and Chicago. To the magazines that supported us, the great ideas that you supported, you our clients/shoppers/customers, friends and family. You name it, if it happened in 2007 and is worth mention, we will mention it. So put away the hate cap and help us congratulate all the people, places and things that made our list. There's always next year, so to all those that did or did not make the list, you can give it another shot next year. We look forward to keeping our eyes peeled, awarding more and creating new categories in 2008. Yep! The Brooklyn Circus, experience is everything . . .

Our 2007 Winners, not in any particular order are:

Bkc Team Player of The Year:
Bevin Elias wins it,hands down. His growth from 2006 to 2007 fell tall of a slam dunk.
Bev went from clueless to creating the clues. Special thanks to Young Bev (the name sticks Bev) for all the great ideas, solutions and laughs. You are one of the most reliable people under 30 in America Bev. Yep! The Bkc awards you . . .
